Acer palmatum ‘Beni shichihenge’
Japanese Maple - Red Transformation of Lion
A more intense ‘Butterfly’. The base of the leaves are green but emerge with pink-orange spring variegated markings. By summer the leaves are more subdued with creamy-green markings taking over before changing to a yellow-orange fall colour. A bit more open vase shape, growing 6-8′ high x 4′ wide in a 10 year period.

Parentage unknown.
Special Notes
Exposure: Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light. Protected from the hot mid-day sun.
Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.
Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done during winter up until early August.
