Acer palmatum ‘Pung kil’
Japanese Maple - Pung kil
A ribbonleaf style of Japanese Maple, similar to ‘Red Pygmy’ but with longer and more narrow lobes. New spring foliage emerges bright red and matures dark purplish-red by summer. In the fall, the foliage transitions to bright red and orange. Grows 6′ high by 4′ wide in a 10 year period.

Origin
Found as a seedling of Acer palmatum f. atropurpureum by Pung Kil of South Korea.
Special Notes
Exposure: Part Sun or all day indirect/filtered light. Protected from the hot mid-day sun.
Soil: Well workable, moist but well draining slightly acidic soil. Dislikes heavy clay soils.
Maintenance: Selective pruning as needed, can be done during winter up until early August.
